De Aanschouw is dood.
Leve De Aanschouw!

ANULI CROON _ PATTERNS OF LIFE | LEVENSPATRONEN _ MADE IN ROTTERDAM 1998 - 2015

An up-to-date monograph that gives an intriguing look at the work of Dutch artist Anuli Croon (Leeuwarden,1964). It includes a selection of work made in Rotterdam between 1999 and 2015, including paintings, work on paper, and commissioned work in public.

" Paintings, works on paper and commissions by Dutch artist Anuli Croon (b. 1964) in Rotterdam between 1999 and 2015 fill the pages of this handsome, densely illustrated monograph. Brilliantly colored geometric shapes cover her large canvases, creating graphic depictions of people and places. Croon’s use of flat one-dimensional shapes for depicting her subject matter accentuates her bold forms and colors and creates a pop art–like feeling with reference to 1990s graphic designers and artists Mike Mills, Will Sweeney and the noted Geoff McFettridge.

Contributing essays by Vera Illés, Aat Ceelen, Maarten Janssen, Dees Linders, Landa van Vliet describe and provide insight into Croon’s large, clear paintings in which figures and fragments of a metropolis meticulously rendered in intense color, patterns and texture are unsettling in their anonymity."

Together with the Cowboy killers who initiated the WINDOWLICKER project we made a handmade magazine with the work of 12 different artists.

The edit is done by @studiocaptain and all covers are handprinted by @wytsegosterk.

Included interviews with the artists by Lies Mensink.

WINDOWLICKER is a vertical screen print project of Leeuwarders screenprint collective Cowboy Killers and visual artist Stefan Hoffmann on the windows of buildings in the city center of Leeuwarden, the Netherlands.

WINDOWLICKER goes in search of the tension and dialogue between art and design, gives space to experiment and contributes to a positive and challenging image of the inner city. It examines the dialogue with the public, advertising and visual culture.

The project is a production of “de Popfabryk” (www.popfabryk.nl) and is part of “Leeuwarden Capital of Culture 2018 (@lf_2018)

This vertical screenprint technique: my design for Windowlicker project in Leeuwarden.

A project by Stefan Hoffmann (Master of vertical screenprinting) and Cowboy Killers (Stefan Sloot, Wytse Sterk, Jelle van Gosliga). They invited eight artists and designers from Europe: Henning Rosenbrock & Markus Mengeler (DE), Mirjam Dijkema, Iwona Jarosz (PL), Niels Post, Joris Diks, Holger Stark & Tanja Zimmerman (DE), Mara Piccione & Tineke Meirink, Anuli Croon.

For study and delight

drawings and prints from Leiden University

200 years have passed since the founding of the Leiden Print Room, incorporated today into Leiden University Libraries. In celebration of that long, rich history this wide-ranging new publication presents a complete and varied survey of the Leiden collections, starting with rare drawings from the early sixteenth century and ending with recent acquisitions from just this past decade. From Jan Gossart and Barend van Orley to Carel Visser and Emo Verkerk, this work encompasses the history of two centuries of collecting. In fifteen chapters experts in the graphic arts discuss sixteenth-century drawings, experimental etching techniques, portraits from five centuries and contemporary drawings and prints. Special attention is also devoted to David Humbert de Superville, the first director of the Print Room and a brilliant draughtsman. Besides being the standard reference on the Leiden Print Room for years to come, the more than 300 full-page colour reproductions displaying highlights, rarities and unknown masterpieces make this book a pleasure to read as well as to regard.

The four editors of this volume - Nelke Bartelings (Leiden University), Edward Grasman (Leiden University), Elmer Kolfin (University of Amsterdam) and Jef Schaeps (Leiden Print Room) - are all specialists in the field of graphic arts and thoroughly acquainted with the Leiden collections. They assembled a team of scholars who, proceeding from their own expertise, each wrote about the collections.

“I AM NOT DOING ANYTHING UNTIL I FEEL THE NEED”

2014 concept & organisatie : Joanneke Meester

Joanneke Meester reflects on the necessity of the things we tend to impose on ourselves and one another in everyday life. In search of something to go by, she formulated the statement ‘I am not doing anything until I feel the need’. Meester invited 365 artists to convert their personal interpretations of the statement into an image for inclusion in a daily calendar, designed to confront users day in, day out with the mantra ‘I am not doing anything until I feel the need’.

This conceptual and collaborative artwork will be available in bookshops and museum shops in the Netherlands and Belgium from September 2014 and can be ordered online via: http://www.bekkingblitz.com

Related exhibitions: I am not doing anything until I feel the need.

The exhibitions presents an overview of almost all original works that were included in the calendar.

AT RANDOM / #2-2013

{At Random / #2-2013} was vanaf 26-10-2013 t/m 25-12-2013 online beschikbaar.

WELK WERK WAAR

Kunstenaars:

Sarianne Breuker, Anuli Croon, Stang Gubbels, Milou van Ham, Ben Zegers.
